About Us

We offer the “Choong Sil Kwon” style of martial arts which is the concept of “constant never ending improvement”. The result of this style of training is an empowering sense of self worth and the ability to control one’s physical state and personal destiny.

About Our Instructors:

Certified Chief Instructor Whitney Mione has 17 years of martial arts training. Her accomplishments include:

  • 4th Dan Choong Sil Taekwondo Federation
  • 2011 CTF National Champion
  • 2011 USTL National Champion
  • CTF Certified Instructor

Mrs. Mione has trained in martial arts since 2000. She started teaching Taekwondo in 2008 after obtaining a degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin in Economics and Finance. Her love of teaching stems from seeing both children and adults reap the benefits martial arts training has to offer such as an increase in focus, self-discipline, respect, among many other benefits.” She is excited to offer the community a Home School Program, After School Program, and Evening Classes for families, as well as camps during the summer, spring, and fall breaks.

Certified Assistant Instructor Steven Bates has 5 years of martial arts training. His accomplishments include:

  • 2nd Dan Choong Sil Taekwondo Federation
  • CTF Certified Assistant Instructor

Mr. Bates has trained in martial arts most of his life, but has been with the CTF since 2012. He started teaching Taekwondo in 2014 after receiving his 1st degree black belt. In 2015, he earn his CTF Assistant Instructor certification.

“Teaching and training in Taekwondo are both very rewarding, but most of all I love the culture and family aspect that comes with it. I’ve made many lasting friends at West Side, and I appreciate how our community is always welcoming new faces.”

Certified Assistant Instructor Emily McKeel has 10 years of martial arts training. Her accomplishments include:

  • 3rd Dan Choong Sil Taekwondo Federation
  • 2014 CTF National Champion
  • CTF Certified Assistant Instructor

Ms. Emily has trained in martial arts since 2008. She began teaching in 2010 after receiving her 1st degree black belt. In 2011, she earned her CTF Assistant Instructor certification.

“What I love about Taekwondo is how much it will improve your life if you allow it to. It challenges and improves your physical well-being as well as your mental endurance.”

Assistant Instructor Carson Royster has 3 years of martial arts training. Her Accomplishments include:

  • 1st Dan Choong Sil Taekwondo Federation
  • Lil’ Dragons Program

Ms. Carson has trained in martial arts since 2014. In 2016, she and Mrs. Mione started the Lil’ Dragons Program where she first began teaching. She received her 1st degree black belt in 2017 and is currently working toward her CTF Assistant Instructor certification.
